DVB-T Leipzig
The local Leipzig DVB-T-network starts-up in regular operation on 10 May 2010
The local Leipzig DVB-T-network starts-up in regular operation. The program bouquet ”Leipzig Private 1“ including the TV-programs BBC World, Bibel TV, Leipzig Television, info tv leipzig, as well as the radio programs Radio Horeb and Radio Leipzig, can be received on channel 31 as of now.The MUGLER AG from Saxon Oberlungwitz acts as network operator in regular operation of ”Leipzig Private 1“. With a nationwide regarded and welcomed decision, the Federal Network Agency had granted the license for regular operation in Leipzig to MUGLER AG and had opened the way for competition in the field of radio network operation for the first time.
Likewise, the two-year test mode phase for the pilot project “TV everywhere local” of the Saxon State Office for Commercial Broadcast and New Media (SLM) has ended-in. With this hitherto nationwide unique pilot project, the SLM was willing to show that top-quality digital-terrestrial broadcasting of programs at economically reasonable terms was also possible for local and regional operators.
In the regular operation of the local Leipzig network, the broadcasting fees for operators are far below the so far fees for the analog TV-program broadcasting and also far below the fees to be paid nationwide for an equivalent TV-program with comparable coverage area and/or number of supplied households.Due to a new regulation of frequencies by the Federal Network Agency, the start-up of regular operation was associated with a channel change of the program bouquet ”Leipzig Private 1“ from channel 37 to channel 31. The MDR in Leipzig changed its bouquet at the same time from channel 9 to channel 37. Both conversion times were synchronized so that the spectators only had to run one new channel search.
