The public safety radio system in Germany is just undergoing a radical change. A uniformed digital official radio network is erected nationwide. First of all, the federal and state police authorities shell make the gradual transition from analog to digital network in regular operation.
 
In the past extensive investments, funded by subsidies, were made in analog radio and control center technology. 
Because of this, fire departments, rescue services, disaster management and other public safety services will continue working with analog technology both in outdoor and indoor radio systems. The analog-to-digital migration process will occupy a longer time period than anticipated and may be associated with the parallel operation of analog and digital equipment.
