Digital Radio

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

Public safety radio had been run by analog radio systems until the end of the nineties. The development of digital systems was particularly promoted due to the insufficient coding possibilities for analog radio.

A nationwide uniformed digital public safety radio network is currently planned and erected in Germany. It is based on the TETRA-standard and will become the largest network of its kind worldwide, with 500,000 end-users. The responsibility for public safety radio lies with the respective federal states; the inter-state coordination of planning and erecting the network is undertaken by the BDBOS as the federal authority.

Besides the opportunity of safe coding, the digital official radio offers above all an enhanced voice and reception quality. First of all, the police authorities will make the complete transition from analog to digital technology. Fire departments, rescue services, and other public safety users will follow within the years to come.

MUGLER has been involved in the nationwide planning and erection of the digital public safety radio network since 2008 in nearly all federal states.
