Networks that grow with you: scalable infrastructure for digital education

Interactive displays, learning platforms, exam software and lecture streaming – all running simultaneously over the same network. As more devices and applications are added, the demands on the infrastructure increase.

Schools and universities face the same challenge: how can their networks remain stable and secure as user numbers continue to grow?

In a recent YouTube video from Cambium Networks, Stefan Richter, Head of Local Networks – Campus Networks at MUGLER SE, addresses exactly this question.

More Information

Automated provisioning: switch on and get started

New tablets for an entire year group or a complete fleet of laptops for university students – until now, this has meant a substantial workload for IT teams. Each device had to be configured individually, leaving plenty of room for error.

Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) makes the process much simpler. Devices are automatically connected to the network without manual configuration. This saves time and reduces the risk of errors.

For educational institutions, this means faster deployment, less pressure on IT teams and devices that are ready to use straight away – whether there are ten, a hundred or a thousand of them.

VLANs: network structure and security

Educational networks bring together different user groups, including students, teaching staff, administrators and guests. Each group has its own requirements and needs an appropriate level of security.

This is where Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) come in. They enable logical separation within the network, allowing each group to work in its own protected segment. This improves data security and helps keep sensitive information out of the wrong hands.

Segmentation also helps organise network traffic. Administrative activities remain separate from teaching activities, and IT teams can manage the network more efficiently. Greater security, better visibility and fewer disruptions.

Quality of Service: stability when it matters most

Network demands are growing – and some applications are more critical than others. Video conferences, digital exams and interactive learning platforms need to run smoothly, while background processes can be given lower priority.

Quality of Service (QoS) makes it possible to set these priorities. Critical applications automatically receive priority and the bandwidth they need. This keeps digital teaching running reliably, even when hundreds of devices are online at the same time.

The result: reliable performance for what matters most.

Turning technology into practical solutions

Our partner Cambium Networks provides the technologies that make all this possible. From ZTP and VLANs to QoS, Cambium delivers the foundation for high-performance educational networks.

As a system integrator, we put these solutions into practice. We design, deploy and operate campus networks that make everyday work easier in classrooms, lecture theatres and administrative buildings.

Combining innovative technology with practical implementation ensures that educational networks perform reliably today and can scale to meet tomorrow’s demands.

Conclusion: digital education needs networks that can grow

Digitalisation is an ongoing commitment. The number of devices and applications will continue to rise, and the infrastructure must keep pace.

Scalable networks mean 50 devices today, 500 tomorrow – with everything running smoothly. Investing in flexible, secure solutions now lays the foundation for reliable digital education.

Now is the time to prepare networks for the future. Together with our partner Cambium Networks, we create solutions that strengthen network reliability at educational institutions and prepare them for future demands. Get in touch – we will help you build a network that grows with your needs.
