MOVIS … APP and running.
12. May 2021

Despite what the name might suggest, MOVIS is not a streaming service for watching blockbusters. And no – it is not a drone either.
MOVIS is a video transmission system that we developed for site acceptance inspections and quality assurance at telecommunications sites. The name stands for Mobile Video Inspection System.
The idea is simple: An employee on site – in Munich, for example – launches the MOVIS app on their smartphone and connects with an expert at the company via a live audio and video link.
The expert guides the employee through the inspection – from hundreds of kilometres away. Defects are identified and documented immediately and, where possible, resolved on the spot. The expert is then ready for the next assignment – perhaps in Hamburg.
MOVIS stores all audio and video data and includes calendar, screenshot and chat functions – along with many other features.
The benefits of MOVIS:
| Savings | Improvements |
|---|---|
| Time (no travel required for experts) | More inspections per day |
| Effort | Greater efficiency and effectiveness |
| Costs | Greater flexibility |
In 2018 alone, we carried out more than 10,000 video inspections using MOVIS. The potential for mobile support solutions is enormous: Countless situations require inspection or expert guidance – without necessarily requiring someone to be physically present. A virtual presence is enough.
This makes MOVIS suitable for a wide range of applications in telecommunications, construction, energy supply, wind power, and machinery and plant engineering – to name just a few industries.
MOVIS … we need your app development skills.
MOVIS is full of possibilities – and its development is far from complete. That is why we are looking for software and web developers to help us develop the system further:
- Experience with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript
- or in backend development with databases (e.g. SQL)
- ideally with knowledge of an object-oriented programming language
The location? Flexible! The development team does not have to be based at our headquarters in Oberlungwitz – Dresden, Leipzig, Jena or Chemnitz are also possible locations.
Know someone who lives and breathes code – or does that sound like you? We would love to hear from you!
